Ayurveda & Mental Health
The course consists of two sessions delivered LIVE online with practical assignments given in between sessions.
LIVE Session 1 [3hrs] - Ayurvedic Psychology Foundations
In this session we will explore the Ayurvedic understanding of how the mind is structured and how it works in both balanced and imbalanced states. We’ll look at the energetics underlying psychological pathology (mental imbalances) and provide a framework for identifying and addressing common mental health challenges. You will learn:
The ancient view of the nature of the mind
Fundamentals of energetic constitutions and their implications to mental health
The Ayurvedic approach to understanding mental/emotional imbalance
An Ayurvedic understanding of the root causes of command mental health challenges
Ayurvedic connections to modern day eco-psychology
LIVE Session 2 [3hrs] - Ayurvedic Tools for working with the mind
This session will focus on understanding Ayurveda’s holistic approach to addressing mental health imbalances and its tools for building mental emotional adaptability and resilience. In this three hour workshop you’ll learn:
- Ayurvedic tools & therapies for addressing mental health challenges like anxiety, depression and trauma.
- Ayurvedic approaches to building mental/emotional resilience
- How Ayurveda and yoga work together to support mental wellbeing
- How Yoga teachers and therapists can support their students/client’s mental-emotional health

Hi, I'm Chara...
Chara Caruthers is a passionate and outspoken voice for the power of living your truth. An international teacher, speaker, advocate and mentor for women’s wellness, she has inspired and motivated a global community of people of all ages to live juicier and more connected lives by embracing the principles of yoga and Ayurveda. Her life’s motto is “Know yourself, Love Yourself.”
A long-time practitioner and student of yoga, Chara is a certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), an Ayurvedic Practitioner (NAMA) and a senior yoga teacher (E-RYT500, YCEP) who has taught yoga around the globe for more than a decade. She has studied and practiced Ayurveda in the United States, Australia and India and is a graduate of the American Institute of Vedic Studies (USA), the International Academy of Ayurveda (Pune, India), and Kerala Ayurveda Academy (Kerala, India). Her work is focused on sharing these ancient principles in a modern context empowering wellness seekers of all backgrounds and cultures to boldly embrace the responsibility we all have to know and love ourselves.
